, PhD – was a Trinidadian who taught

geography at the secondary level in Trinidad and Jamaica and

lectured at the UWI, Mona and Kenyatta University College in

Nairobi, Kenya. He also served as a regional examiner.

– was an experienced teacher in the

Jamaican classroom.

Franklyn Gittens

– is a senior business development officer

with the National Entrepreneurship Development Company

Ltd., Trinidad and is responsible for the counselling, training,

mentoring and financing of start-ups and existing small

business ventures.

Marlene Golding

– is a Grade 4 teacher at Christiana Leased

Primary and Infant School and is an accomplished primary

level specialist with over 16 years’ experience.

Nattalie Gordon

– is the 2010 winner of the National Reading

Competition and a multiple-time entrant and awardee in the

Jamaica Cultural Development Commission’s (JCDC) Creative

Writing Competition.

Jean Goulbourne

– won many awards and widespread acclaim

for her literary publications. Her work includes two poetry

collections, a novel for adult readers, short stories and poems

published in several Caribbean newspapers and journals.

Marva Griffith-Green

– is a former senior administrator in

the Faculty of Social Sciences at UWI, Mona. She has served

education in many roles as an outstanding science educator

who is one of the authors of Carlong’s landmark

First Steps in

Science

series.

Sybile Hamil

– is formerly the principal lecturer in Business

Education in the Department of Education, UTech, Jamaica.

She has served on the CXC’s Business Education Panel.

U. Eugenie Harrison

– is an educator at the early childhood

level and at the tertiary level, where she taught for 10 years.

She is one of the authors of Carlong’s original

series.

Dezmarie Hines

– is a committed and successful preparatory

school teacher in Jamaica. She currently teaches overseas.

Kendel Hippolyte

– is one of the Caribbean’s foremost

playwrights. His work has been studied and performed

throughout the region.

Ena Hughes

– is a former teacher and primary school principal

in Jamaica.

PhD – is a part-time lecturer in the

Department of Literatures in English, UWI, Mona. She has

served as a regional examiner.

Karla Hylton,

PhD – has her PhD in Biotechnology and a

postgraduate Diploma in Education. She has several years’

teaching experience and operates Bio & Chem Tutoring, a

Kingston, Jamaica-based teaching programme.

– is a lecturer in Crop Production, Faculty

of Food and Agriculture, University of theWest Indies, St

Augustine.

– lives in Antigua but was born in Dominica

to Antiguan parents. She treasures her strong roots in both

countries.

the MOE in Jamaica.

– is a trained early childhood educator

with years of experience in teaching at that level of the

Jamaican education system.

Eleanor Jones

– is a former lecturer in physical geography at

the UWI, Mona, and is a former GCE Advanced Level examiner

for geography. She currently manages her own environmental

consultancy firm.

Cuthbert C. Joseph

– is a teacher of Business and has been

engaged in entrepreneurship training for a decade. He has

contributed questions for CAPE Management of Business and

Entrepreneurship examinations and regularly participates in

marking CAPE examinations.

Myrtle Kellier

– taught English at both the secondary and

tertiary levels in Jamaica.

Paul H. King

– worked internationally in Measurement and

Evaluation. He taught for several years at the secondary level

and now works as a consultant.

K’adamawe K’nife

– is the director of the office of social

entrepreneurship and co-ordinator of the BSc in Management

and Entrepreneurship Option, in the Mona School of Business

and Management, University of theWest Indies, Mona.

Sybil Leslie

– worked as administrator and lecturer in social

studies at the tertiary level in Jamaica and Barbados.

Janet P. Lewis

– is an early childhood professional with years of

teaching, lecturing and administrative experience in her field.

She is currently the director of the Early Childhood Centre at

the Mico University College, Jamaica.

Hyacinth Leyden

– is a former retired school principal. She

has served as a resource teacher of social studies at the tertiary

level in Jamaica.

Mercilia Mallett

– is a former primary school principal in

Jamaica.

Eileen Marshall

– is an experienced educator who has taught

English Language at the primary and secondary levels. She is a

former Information Specialist in the MOE, Jamaica.

Vilma McClenan

– was coordinator of the UWI Distance

Education Centre (UWIDEC), Mona. She is a distinguished

science educator, who in 2000 was awarded the bronze

Musgrave Medal from the Institute of Jamaica. She is also the

main author of the landmark

(FSIS) series.

Keith McDonald

– is the Academic Head of the School

of Higher Education Ltd in Trinidad and Tobago, with

responsibility for Entrepreneurial Management.

Doreth McFarlane

– is an outstanding and experienced former

primary level teacher in Jamaica. She worked for years as a

MOE resource teacher and was the recipient of the bronze

Musgrave Medal from the Institute of Jamaica in the field of

Science and Education.

– is an experienced Jamaican illustrator and

designer who has himself published books.

Olive Peart

– is an avid reader and writer. Peart regularly

writes articles for radiological journals and news magazines,

and gives lectures on radiography-related topics. Her works

of fiction which include young adult novels, were originally

created purely for personal enjoyment.

Geoffrey Philp

– was born in Jamaica. He is one of few

writers whose work has been published in the Oxford Book of

Caribbean Short Stories and Oxford Book of Caribbean Verse.

Philp teaches creative writing at Miami Dade College.

Kirk Phillip

– is a teacher of Principles of Business, Principles

of Accounts and Management of Business at Holy Faith

Convent, Penal, Trinidad and Tobago.

Velma Pollard

– is a former senior lecturer at the School of

Education, UWI, Mona. She is the author of collections of short

stories, poems, and a novel, as well as books and articles on

Caribbean language and literature. Her novella

research, innovative curriculum development, and teaching

in entrepreneurship, new ventures, project management and

entrepreneurial finance.

– is a self-taught, freelance Jamaican illustrator.
